<description>Many have been asking how they can help. Of course, cash donations to Humanitarian Services of the LDS Church are needed. For those who would like to contribute in a hands-on kind of way, hygiene kits are a great way to contribute. Doug LeCheminant, a friend in LDS Family Services headquarters who is supervising the Family Services involvement in Haiti relief, told me that the Church has distributed thousands of kits already. In past disaster responses, Doug said, other relief organizations see the kits and ask if they can also have kits to distribute, so the demand becomes huge.

For instructions on assembling and donating hygiene kits, check this link: http://www.providentliving.org/content/display/0,11666,3471-1-3262-1,00.html

Also, be sure to check out the following link for huge savings on the items that make up a hygiene kit, offered by a company called Mandalay International. This kind of savings makes it possible to donate 4 to 5 times as many kits as would be possible for the same expenditure at K-Mart (I checked myself).
